According to the News of the World, Barcelona’s interest in Manchester City star Robinho could pave the way for a swap deal involving Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. The European Champions interest in the former Real Madrid forward is widely acknowledged following an approach for the Brazilian last month, and he is likely to become the subject of further speculation as the January transfer window approaches.
The newspaper suggests Mark Hughes has concerns about Robinho’s ability to perform on a consistent basis and would consider off loading the forward if Thierry Henry was included in the deal.
Should Guardiola not sanction the sale of Henry, Hughes will demand £30 million for the player they signed from Real Madrid last summer, but a swap deal may suit both parties.
Henry would suit the global superstar City owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed graves and with proven Premier League pedigree Hughes would seemingly welcome the deal according to the paper.
